Jon Wohlfert

Founding Partner


In 1986, Jon began his journey in lodging with a team and brand that would shape the industry for decades to come. Joining Residence Inn during its early days, he found himself at the forefront of one of the most stable and profitable lodging categories: extended stay. Over time, the extended stay market flourished, growing to over 12,000 properties, becoming one of the fastest-growing segments in lodging.


As consumer behaviors changed, so have lodging products. The rise of platforms like Airbnb made it acceptable—and even desirable—for travelers to stay in residential properties. This shift brought new awareness to individual homes, corporate apartments, and serviced residences. Recognizing this opportunity, major lodging brands began flocking to what is now known as residential lodging, redefining modern hospitality.


Jon’s career has been a driving force in this evolution. With over 30 years of experience, he has become a pioneer in residential lodging, holding leadership roles across some of the industry’s most influential brands, including Residence Inn, Summerfield Suites, Candlewood Suites, BridgeStreet Global Hospitality, Extended Stay America, WaterWalk by Wyndham, and RESIDE. In these companies, Jon wore many hats—EVP of Sales and Marketing, Managing Director of the Americas, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, President, and even Co-CEO—building a reputation for innovation and strategic vision.


Today, Jon’s journey continues with The AltAccom Group, where he is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the explosive growth of residential lodging by connecting capital, real estate, and operating companies. AltAccom's pipeline of future properties are tailored for this thriving segment and includes both converting existing buildings and ground up development.


Jon earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and later an MBA from Michigan State University. With his unparalleled expertise and forward-thinking approach, Jon remains at the forefront of an industry that he helped define and continues to shape the future of how people live and stay.

Terry Strongin


Founding Partner

  • Terry Strongin is a founding partner of The AltAccom Group. Within the organization his primary focus is identifying acquiring multifamily properties, debt financing and building relationships with investors, joint venture partners and developing strategic relationship. In addition, Terry is involved in identifying market opportunities in the alternative accommodation real estate space and crafting the strategic direction of the company's investment activities. 


  • Changes in demographics, technology and lifestyle preferences coupled with a more mobile workforce has created an unmet demand for a differentiated home experience one that offers flexibility, comfort, human engagement and a community connection. Owners of properties that meet these changing renter demands can benefit by achieving outsized returns while maintain the fundamental low-risk profile of a traditional multifamily property.


  • Terry's business and real estate investment experience spans a broad spectrum of disciplines in the commercial real estate, finance, and securities industries having worked both, for large public companies as a high-level corporate executive, and as a principal in boutique real estate start-ups. Prior to co-founding The AltAccom Group, Terry was Executive Vice President of Reside Realty Group, Inc. owned by one of the largest corporate housing companies in the US. where he was head of real estate investments and capital market activities. Before that he ran his own real estate investment and capital advisory business, served as Executive Vice President and Director of Capital Markets for a national commercial lending operation where he oversaw all CMBS lending activities and loan sales and held the position of Vice President of commercial real estate lending at $1 billion NYSE listed Real Estate Investment Trust.


  • Terry earned a BS Degree in Business/Real Estate from San Francisco State University and holds both California and Florida real estate broker licenses.


Kirk Cypel


Partner 

Over 30 years with real estate and investment organizations, Kirk has directed operations for multi-million square foot portfolios. With multi-billion-dollar transactional experience, he has bought, financed, leased, sold, and managed property throughout the United States. A creative dealmaker, The Wall Street Journal recognized Kirk for successfully repositioning and selling the 680,000 sf Pan American Life Center in New Orleans. Kirk is a member of the California Bar and a licensed California real estate broker
